Doctors And Nurses Need Your Support

Now More Than Ever: Here's An Easy Solution

Show all healthcare workers including doctors and nurses a little appreciation with a medical lapel pin from LapelPinPlanet. Our pins are unapologetically original, and they also will be adored by all who wear them.

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world faced unprecedented scenarios – shortages of cleaning supplies and toilet paper, shelter-in-place orders, and limited space in hospitals. It was truly an experience meant for the history books, and not in a good way.

As time went on, there were varied responses to each of the unprecedented scenarios from all kinds of different people. There was, however, one thing we could all agree upon - and that was to show messages of gratitude for our frontline workers. Everyone was keen on the outpouring of support for medical staffs’ efforts across the country.

We still have an opportunity to show how much you support our medical professionals. Whether you give one of our pins as a gift, or you wear one in support - these lapel pins are a perfect way to show your appreciation.

Healthcare professionals have been overwhelmed for the past two years and it's time to show our support

Working in health care can be very rewarding, but like many other working professionals, nurses and other health care workers are experiencing new obstacles amid the pandemic. Obstacles like anxiety, overwhelm, and burn out.

While the pandemic is still far from over, the public is now in a position where it can start to consider the long term effects of the pandemic on doctors and nurses, as well as the medical community writ large.

According to a statement from the International Council of Nurses, “anxiety and overwork are taking their toll on the mental health and well-being of nurses, increasing the risk of post-traumatic and other stress-related disorders.” As such, there is also strong evidence that the medical community is “experiencing unprecedented levels of stress and are at risk of burnout, threatening their ability to continue to do their vital work.” In other words, they need as much help, support and resources as we can all give them.

We Truly Care About Our Doctors And Nurses - So Here Are Some Other Ways To Show Your Support

While we would love for you to help support our family, our business, and use our expertise to support the medical community, we know that there are many ways our country can show its support.

Our main concern is that our frontline workers are shown the support they need but deserve. So, here are a few ways you can help the many frontline workers including doctors and nurses.

Share a quick thank you.

It’s simple, it’s easy, and it’s very effecting. Telling a healthcare worker how much they are appreciated is sure to brighten their day, and it will honestly feel good personally. So consider having a conversation with someone you know, sending a text of thanks, or just handwriting a quick thank you note. It will go a long way.

Be understanding.

As we mentioned, medical workers are stressed out and, honestly, for good reason. Their expertise and time has never been more vital, or in demand. Do yourself and any medical worker you know a favor and be mindful of what they are going through to make sure you aren’t asking too much of them. Even if you know you are not asking too much and the person does not respond, or snip back in a way that is unlike them, just allow them some grace. They literally have the weight of the world on their shoulders.

Avoid making them an outlet for COVID fear and anxiety.

There are many questions and concerns that come up surrounding the virus, the COVID-19 vaccine, and the various political motivations from a wide variety of interest groups. Everyone is worried, everyone is tired, and everyone is ready for life to move on - especially the medical community. While it is good to talk about anxiety, try to understand the situation your healthcare worker associate might be experiencing. Given all the pressure they are under, it might not be a good idea to burden them with your fears on top of their own. Try your best to say “Is it Ok if I ask you a question?” before diving right in. What’s more, listen to them. Listen to their honest and informed opinion. Furthermore, if they need to vent or talk, make sure they know you are there for them too.

Deliver food to healthcare workers and their families.

You know how it is - after a long shift, the last thing anyone wants to do is cook.

Take some of that pressure off by offering to pick up carryout for them or dropping off a home-cooked meal. Your thought, and your delicious food are as good as gold.

Give a gift.

A small gift (including a pin from us :) ) can go a long way. Again, when you put someone else’s feelings ahead of your own priorities, it feels good, and it makes them feel good. Think of something small - like a coffee gift card, some self-care products, or an appropriate basket of stuff they love – anything which could put a smile on their face.

Support charities and organizations that raise money for COVID-19 initiatives.

Every little bit helps. Lookfor organizations that donate to COVID relief funds. These donations go toward providing healthcare workers with appropriate PPE and equipment as well as providing direct support to families that might be struggling.

Ask how you can help

Everyone’s needs are different. If you're not sure how you can support a healthcare worker you know – be it running errands or helping with household chores – the best way to find out is to ask.
